After scoring 24 and 43 points in its first two games, Forney managed only two points in a loss to McKinney North two weeks ago, and coach Kevin Rush knows why.
"Every time we got down close, we would have jumping penalties or other miscues," Rush said. "That would put us out of position to score."
Rush said that during the bye week, the scout team lunged toward the offensive linemen, attempting to draw them into a false start. Rush said the problem should be solved.
"It's become really tough for an offensive tackle when you don't have a tight end next to you," Rush said. "You have to deal with a rush end, so you want to get a good jump. So, we did some drills with that, too."
Running back Peter Smith is Forney's top threat, with 550 total yards and seven touchdowns.
