South Garland coach Mickey Moss is living on the edge.
His team is 4-1, including 2-0 in District 10-5A, after a 38-35 overtime win over Garland Naaman Forest last week. But South Garland's wins have come in close games.
"In 5A football, there's no lead safe," Moss said. "You just want to win and get to the next game either way, whether it's close or you win by 14 or 20, because anything can happen in 5A ball."
The average South Garland win has been by 6.6 points. Three of its games have been decided by seven or fewer points.
"It makes you a nervous wreck on the sideline," Moss joked. "It would be nice to win big and coast in the fourth quarter, but those are few and far between."
