Mesquite coach Steve Halpin expressed little concern over his team's 0-2 record after falling to Plano East last week, 46-20.
Halpin said that his team has played two solid opponents in Plano and Plano East, and that those teams exposed Mesquite's weaknesses.
"We haven't been able to control the running game from a defensive standpoint," Halpin said. "But we don't point fingers. The goal is still there in Week 11."
Mesquite will play Abilene on Friday at Mesquite's E.H. Hanby Stadium in the school's homecoming game, but Halpin would not reveal what his team has been working on for the game.
"I'm not worried about Abilene," Halpin said. "I'm worried about the Skeeters. It's time to step up and defend our home turf."
