Plano East starter Taylor Jones had seven strikeouts and went 2-for-3 at the plate with two doubles in Game 1 of the Class 5A Region I semifinals best-of-3 series at North Texas. Jones improved to 22-12-1 this season.

Weatherford took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but Plano East rallied by scoring four runs in the fourth inning. McKenna Brown sparked Plano East (22-14-1) with a two-run homer. Game 2 is at 7:30 tonight at North Texas.
