Plano senior Dillon Powers has been named the 2008-09 Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year. Powers, SportsDay's All-Area Player of the Year, had 16 goals and 24 assists in leading the Wildcats to the Class 5A state title.

Powers, who has signed with Notre Dame, joins Plano East's Lee Nguyen (2004-05) and Bishop Lynch's Nick Garcia (1996-97) as the only Texas boys to earn the honor.
