The Web site's preseason rankings will debut in August. Two other North Texas powerhouses are in the top 25. Plano is No. 10, and Southlake Carroll is No. 24. JOHN F. RHODES / DMN Euless Trinity football will return 11 starters from its 2007 Class 5A Division I state championship squad. Trinity returns 11 starters from the 2007 Class 5A Division I state championship squad. That group includes running back Dontrayevous Robinson, a Nebraska recruit who rushed for 17 touchdowns in 11 games, and quarterback Denarius McGhee, who entered 2007 with raw talent and developed a steady command of the offense as Trinity peaked in the playoffs. Two members of Trinity's secondary, Eryon Barnett and Prinz Kande, have orally committed to Texas and Kansas, respectively. They are expected to be key contributors on defense. Plano, which lost to Trinity, 30-27 in double overtime in a state semifinal, returns standout running back Rex Burkhead (1,768 rushing yards, 29 touchdowns) and quarterback Carson Meger (3,342 passing yards, 23 touchdowns). Carroll must replace 10 starters on offense. But with starter Kyle Padron and plenty of depth at quarterback, a reloaded Carroll is expected to contend for a state title. "Offensively, we're still kind of continuing our work in progress so to speak throughout the summer," second-year coach Hal Wasson said. "I count on these guys stepping up and being a very efficient, productive offensive unit." Wasson was more excited about his team's prospects than Carroll's place in the rankings. "I think this football team will be one of those that gets better and better each week," Wasson said. "Wherever they rank us, whether it's one or 101, is pretty irrelevant to us."
