Rockwall leadoff hitter Shelby Frierson went 4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored Thursday night to lead her team to a 4-1 victory over Mesquite Poteet in Game 1 of the Class 4A Region II softball semifinals best-of-3 series at Wylie.
Kat Brown earned the victory for Rockwall (28-11), allowing only five hits and striking out two. Poteet pitcher Bradie Baker took the loss despite striking out six. Poteet (31-8-1) was done in by four errors.
Rockwall took a 3-0 lead after two innings. First baseman Haley Lemons had two RBIs.
