Rowlett junior Marquise Goodwin, who qualified for five events, will run his lone individual race at state in the 100. Goodwin is seeded second in 5A and ran a season-best 10.09 at the District 10-5A meet.

Fort Bend Hightower's Isaiah Sweeney and Klein Forest's Mark Barnes, who were second and third in 2007, are seeded third and first. Barnes edged Goodwin at the 5A Region II meet with a run of 10.54.

Arlington Sam Houston's Robert Odhiambo and Mansfield Summit's Eric July, who were separated by .02 seconds at the 5A Region I meet, are also expected to contend for medals.

In 4A, Arlington Seguin senior Kevin Hobson owns the top seed in a competitive field featuring four runners who ran 10.80 or better at regionals.
