The race in 4A may boil down to Saginaw teammates Destiny Lumas and Donique' Flemings. The two finished 1-2 at the 6-4A meet, with Lumas finishing first in an astonishing 13.15 and Flemings second at 13.41. Those are the two fastest times in the state this season. At the 2007 state meet, Lumas and Flemings were third and fourth.

Kimball sophomore Lauren Blackburn, who ran a season-best 13.94 at the Region II meet, should also be a factor in the 4A race. Lancaster's Danielle Hill is seeded fifth thanks to her season-best 14.60 at the 4A Region II meet.

Mesquite Horn junior Olivia Amy makes her state debut following a victory in the 5A Region II meet.
