Stephanie Ganter will attempt to keep McKinney North among the champions as she goes for the 4A title won in 2007 by former teammate Samantha Means. Ganter, a Stephen F. Austin signee, is seeded second after posting a season-best 10:55.87 at the Region II meet.

Midlothian freshman Carly Kitts is seeded fourth. Cedar Park Vista Ridge's Ashley Isham, who owns the top time in the state this season at 10:37.17, is the No. 1 seed in 4A. She placed third in 2007.

Southlake Carroll junior Tara Upshaw (11:04.19), who led her team to the state cross country championship last fall, owns the No. 4 seed in 5A behind Colleyville Heritage freshman Alyssa Nielson (10:55.24).

Argyle senior Kristie Kruger, the 2007 3A state champion, is not running the event this year.
