It's no secret that DeSoto junior Skylar White is going after the state-meet record of 163-6 achieved by Red Oak's D'Andra Carter in 2005. White's season high is 163-11, and she enters with the top seed in 5A (149-4) thanks to her Region I meet victory.

Mansfield Summit's Rebecca Downing and Mesquite Horn's Kelsi Baker are among those aiming to keep pace with White.

Lancaster's Chasity Thomas (121-7) is seventh in a compact 4A field. Only 16 feet separates the Nos. 1 and 8 seeds.

Kennedale's Stacia Newton is seeded first in 3A and owns the No. 5 throw in the state this season.
