PLAYER OF THE WEEKKendrick Perkins lends power for La Porte12:54 PM CST on Thursday, December 4, 2008 Video Athlete of the Week: Kendrick Perkins December 3, 2008 Kendrick Perkins powered his way in as “Athlete of the Week” by leading La Porte to a playoff win over Madison. Perkins, a junior running back, caused major problems for the Marlins’ defense, scoring three touchdowns in La Porte’s 27-17 victory.
Kevin Perkins Kendrick Perkins leaves Madison in his wake. Perkins carried the ball 30 times for 226 yards, scoring three touchdowns. Perkins drew first blood, scoring his first touchdown from six yards out with 1:28 left in the first quarter. Perkins would strike again in the third quarter off an impressive 15 yard run which gave La Porte the lead. Perkins scored his third and final touchdown from 12 yards out with 1:13 left in the fourth quarter, sealing a win for La Porte. Perkins has shown throughout the season that La Porte can rely on him to shoulder their load, carrying the ball 30 times against Madison. Perkins is only a junior with promising upside. He is a two sport athlete, awarded All-Houston honors for both football and baseball. La Porte puts their playoff dreams on the line Saturday at Rice Stadium, when they take on the Katy Tigers, with kick off at 1 p.m. |
