PLAYER OF THE WEEK"Do it all" Eastman takes weekly honor05:57 PM CST on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 Video " Do it all" Eastman takes weekly honor November 14, 2008 A slow start by The Woodlands, was turned around in the second half with three Ryan Eastman touchdowns, leading the Highlanders to a 24-6 victory over Westfield, and capturing the honors of “Athlete of the Week” Eastman is a “jack of all trades” offensively posing a threat running, catching and throwing, and described by his teammates and coaches as “unstoppable and invaluable.” Eastman scored the final three touchdowns of the game on the ground and in the air. His first touchdown came off a four yard run, spinning off would be tacklers to get into the end zone, giving The Woodlands their first lead of the game. His next two TD’s helped put the game out of reach, scoring on a one yard run, and throwing a 37 yard bomb to Logan Rowe on a reverse pass. The Woodlands has had the worst playoff history against Westfield, who had beaten them the two previous years, and at the half it looked like Westfield was going to tack on another win. The Woodlands must have gotten a great halftime speech from their Coach Mark Schmid, because the Highlanders came out second half with a fire lit under them. The most obvious adjustment at the half was to get the ball in the hands of Ryan Eastman. Eastman can start at any position on offense as well as The Woodlands’ punter. I would not be surprised if he was good at defense as well. The Woodlands moves on to the next round where they will face Stoney Point, who knocked off Langham Creek in their first round match up. |
