Hightower’s quarterback AJ Highsmith took the honors of “Athlete of the Week” with his winning performance in Friday night’s win over North Shore. Hightower quarterback AJ Highsmith’s four touchdown performance sealed a 28-21 victory for the Hurricanes, as they get some playoff revenge against a familiar opponent, and continue their state title chase. Highsmith’s first touchdown came as a result of a blocked punt by Colton Valencia, which set up a 10 yard touchdown pass to Darius Johnson. Hurricane Highsmith would strike again at the end of first quarter with a 5 yard touchdown pass to Joshua Wesley, giving the Hurricanes a 14-0 at the end of the first quarter. The Hurricanes added another Highsmith passing touchdown to Lydell Williams to enter halftime with a 20-7 lead. North Shore Mustangs made a major comeback in the second half taking the lead 21-20, forcing Highsmith and the Hurricanes to come up big, and with less than a minute left to play the Hurricanes had the ball on North Shore’s 12 yard line, staring into the end zone ahead. A good run by London Hamilton would get them with in the 10 yard line, when AJ Highsmith called his own number, pushing his way through the pile to score the final touchdown to seal the win on a 1 yard QB sneak by AJ Highsmith. Hurricanes get their playoff revenge against North Shore, and roll into next week getting ready to face Cinco Ranch Friday night at Del Mar Stadium at 6 p.m. |
