The early game saw action between Kashmere and Scarborough, with Kashmere coming out on top with a 76-53 victory. Kashmere’s Aaron Perkins’ 21 points gave his team enough to overcome the Spartans. It was a hard fought physical battle that had several players finding themselves in foul trouble. Cullen Coates of Scarborough put up 14 points in a losing effort. The second game out of Delmar pitted Booker T Washington against the Davis Panthers. Davis’ Tim Burrows’ 21 points was not enough for the Panthers to overtake the Eagles in an overtime thriller, which ended 77-68 in favor of Washington. Washington’s Hadji Thomas led the Eagles to a strong win scoring 15 points.
hsgt The Lady Cougars Clinch a win over Cy Springs Tuesday night at Katy high school in round one of the playoffs. Cinco Ranch guard Kelsey Clinch’s 18 points lead the Lady Cougars to a 60-50 victory advancing them to the next round. Cinco’s aggressive style of play paid off for them causing several Cy Springs turnovers giving the Cougars the edge they needed. Cy Springs scored off the opening tip, but would then trail the rest of the Game. Nicoya Thompson led the Cy Springs Panthers with 16 points, trying to give her squad the spark they would need to make a late comeback. In other playoff action, the Golden Bears of Hastings out shot the Lady Lobos of Langham Creek 46-35. Hastings played a fast-paced game opening up the outside shots. Hastings will be advancing to the next round to face off against the highly ranked Bellaire women’s team. Lamar Consolidated took on rival Friendswood in the first round and ran the court on them, galloping their way to a 57-47 victory. |
