TOP STORIESTRACK: Conroe comes up big at districts10:02 PM CDT on Friday, April 4, 2008The heat was on Friday at the district 15-5A track and field meet, where the top three in every event move on to the regional meet. The weathers conditions today were not in favor of the athletes, with gusting wind and a cold rain that eventually caused the postponement of the running portion of the meet. The Conroe Tigers came out on top of their district rivals, winning five out of the 12 events field events, sweeping both the high jump and triple jump.
Kyle Schantz Conroe owned the boys’ triple jump taking all three spots for regionals; 1st R. Shird 2nd T. Jefferson and 3rd N. Bonnain. In the high jump, Conroe took first and third with the winning jumper Reggie Lovelady clearing six feet, two inches. Shalondre Milo from Magnolia took second while Conroe’s N. Warren took third. The Conroe’s Lady Tigers jumped their way into regionals with Kathryn Becker winning high jump, Amanda Dunlap winning pole vault, and Vaenica White winning the triple jump. Vaenica White jumped it out neck and neck with Holly Vonderau in the finals, beating Vonderau by three inches.
Kyle Schantz Holly Vonderau of Magnolia sewed up her spot at the regional meet placing second in the triple jump and third in the high jump.
