TOP STORIESBASEBALL: Cy Creek Cougars win while Tomball falls to Cedar Park12:10 AM CDT on Saturday, May 10, 2008Cy Creek faced Memorial Friday night at Cy Creek in a must win to keep their state title dreams alive. Cy Creek pitcher, Jason Fink pitched a complete game win, throwing 94 pitches, striking out six and allowing only four hits, in their 10-0 victory over Memorial. Fink was in the zone sitting down batters with his curve ball, which was absolutely nasty, and untouchable to Memorial batters. Fink received some run support with homeruns by Brad Orosey and Andrew Adams.
HSGT With Cy Creek winning today, that splits the series at one each, making tomorrows’ game the “Rubber Game.” The game will take place at Morton Ranch, with action starting at 1 p.m. game.
The Tomball Cougars had their hands full Friday with the visiting Cedar Park Timberwolves, in the second game of their three game series. Tomball was already down one game to the T-Wolves, and needed to win to force a third game. Tomball did just that, off the bat of Luke Pluchceck, who hit a walk-off homer to give Tomball the 6-5 victory, splitting the series at one apiece.

The third and deciding game was played 30 minutes after the first game, and the temperatures were still in the mid to low 90’s. Both teams were feeling the effects of the high temperatures and heavy fatigue in the second game cycling through 10 pitchers. Cedar Park overcame Tomball, as well as the temperatures, to win the deciding game that gave them the series and advancing them to the next round. |
