The Alvin Yellow Jackets are heading to the State finals in softball, after knocking off Odessa 5-0. A wild throw by Odessa allowed Megan Knippa to score from third base giving Alvin the first and winning run of the game; the other four runs after that were just padding.

Jessica Savage followed that up with a double to score Alexis Joseph giving Alvin a 2-0 lead.

Alvin’s defense held strong to their two run lead and added to it in the seventh inning, scoring another three runs off a bases loaded triple hit by Jessica Savage.

The Jackets advance to the finals where they will face the winner of the Garland vs. Bowie match up Saturday at 8 p.m. at McCombs Field.
