Friendswood falls in 4A semifinals

The Friendswood Mustangs’ state title run ended Wednesday at Dell Diamond stadium losing in the semi-finals against Corpus Christi Calallen.
Five runs in the first inning paced Calallen to a 7-1 semifinal victory over the Mustangs. Poor pitching and fielding errors lead Calallen to get their five runs batting through the line up. Friendswood pitcher Stefan Myers, started out the game cold hitting the first two batters he faced, putting two runners on before a flurry of errors allow Calallen to get five quick runs.
Michael Ruiz hit an RBI double to score Dani Liufau,to give Friendswood their first run of the game.

Calallen’s Logan Verrett was putting in work off the mound with his filthy curveball striking out six batters through three innings. Verrett finished the game with 12 strikeouts in seven innings allowing one run.
Skyler Hoelscher’s solo homerun in the fifth inning gave Calallen more run padding, defeating Friendswood 7-1.
Calallen advances to the 4A finals.
