The final rosters for the Texas High School Coaches Association 2008 football and Basketball All-Star Games are in, and the players are geared up for this televised event. Both games pit the North and South all-star teams against each other for state bragging rights. For some players, its one last chance to catch a the eye of some scouts, or play your last game ever. Basketball starts off the action Monday July 28th at Bill Greehey Arena at St. Mary’s University. The game tips off at 7:30 p.m. and can be seen live on Fox Sports Southwest. The South is coached by Mike Murphy from Pflugerville HS, while the North team is led James May II of South Oak Cliff HS. The South All-Star team has four players representing the Houston area; Abel Galliguez ( Ft. Bend Dulles HS ) James Blasczyk (Friendswood HS ) Corbin Ray (Katy Taylor HS ) and Terry Bembry ( Ft. Bend Bush HS ). The football game is Tuesday, July 29 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX, with action starting at 7:30 PM. The game will be broadcast live on Fox Sports Southwest. The head coach for the North is Darren Allman of Odessa Permian HS and South’s coach is Don Byrd from Alamo Heights HS. The South team has a decent showing of Houston area players, high lighted by the Houston Touchdown Club’s Defensive player of the year, Trent Hunter of Katy. NORTH and SOUTH ALL-STAR FOOTBALL ROSTER
