Not along its beaches. Not on the high school football field. When asked if he was ready for everything to get back to normal, James Gulley, a Ball High School Graduate said “It’s time to play. It’s time to play. Time to get some R and R. Some rest and relaxation. It’s been a long time coming. Time to play some ball now. High school football is in the air once again.” Ball High’s goal Saturday night was simple, win and beat rival Clear Creek High. Tenisha Brown, Ball High School Parent, has high hopes for Ball in their recovery, this is what she had to say about Balls bounce back. “We still got a long way to go. We’re happy to see them back out there, and pick up where it left off a week before Ike. We are talking championship, We plan to go all the way. You know. All the parents and a lot of people that are out here, we’re all behind ‘Em.”
hsgt As high school football seasons go, this one started out strong, for Ball High, beating La Marque thirty-five to six in their first game. As far as Saturday night went, all eyes remained on the district championship. Haley Herrin, a Ball High School Student will tell you, “Everyone is really pumped up and excited that there’s a game today, because we were scared that we weren’t even going to have a school.” As a lot of people did, some players lost everything. “You know, I think our island is coming back. I’m really happy. It’s a great game”, said Ball High School Student, Andrew Coleman. Ball High may have lost to Clear Creek tonight, 17 to 7. No matter, they’ll tell you, they’ve still come out strong,. Given what was, what is and what’s ahead. |
