TOP STORIESKaty Tigers take on the Woodlands in our Game of the Week01:43 AM CDT on Saturday, September 6, 2008After last weeks loss to North Shore, in one of the biggest games of the year, Katy is looking to find a way to bounce back. Katy will be traveling north to take on the Woodlands high school at Wood Forest Bank National Stadium, in our HSGameTime “Game of the Week.” The Woodlands started out their season with a convincing 42-0 victory over Cy Fair in their opening game, at the new stadium. Quarterback Andy McCloud led the way for the Highlanders with 222 total yards of offense and three touchdowns; throwing for 134 yards and two TD’s, while running for 88 yards and one TD. The emergence of McCloud is great news for the Woodlands since last year; the Woodlands’ offense was somewhat of a question. Last season the Woodlands placed fourth in their district, which has been one of their worse finishes yet.
HSGT Katy has a lot to prove in this game after their loss to North Shore. It is not that it was a bad loss; It’s the way they lost, lacking that spark that could get their offense moving. Katy’s offense seemed flat and somewhat predictable, while North Shore’s defense was swarming around the ball shutting down Katy. The Tigers need to get the “K-Train” on track early. Running back Michael Webber could not get rolling against North Shore, which put a lot of pressure on QB Parker Ray. Katy’s defense is a solid unit that leads the way for the Tigers, who will need a big performance from their defense.
HSGT The Woodlands needs to take some tips from North Shore’s defense and jump on the Tigers early, and have faith that their offense will make plays. The key players to watch in this game are the quarterbacks of both teams. Katy’s Parker Ray needs a break out game to get “the Monkey” of his back, and show Tigers fans that he can get the job done. Andy McCloud of the Woodlands needs to continue to put up the numbers he did against Cy Fair and revive the spirit of the “Highlander Nation.”
The game can be heard LIVE on TSRN with action starting at 7:30 p.m. |
