With the win, the Cubs (23-2-2) got their 14th shutout of the season. The Cubs will appear Saturday in their third final in four trips to the tournament. They lost in 2004 and 2001. The Colony (16-6-4) had no answer for Pereira-Celis, who set up Michael Moore’s third minute score and then finished a solo run in the 20 th minute with a left-footed shot.

That’s after Katherine Cox scored twice and assisted another goal as Boyd beat Friendswood, 3-1, in a semifinal today. Boyd (24-2-1) will face unbeaten Rider squad that rallied past Dripping Springs, 3-2, in today’s other semifinal. Boyd trailed 1-0 when Cox scored on a penalty kick in the 53rd minute. Two minutes later, her free kick was redirected into the net by Kelley Monogue. Cox’s second goal was a looping, wind-aided shot from 25 yards in the 59th minute. Friendswood (24-2-5) had taken the lead in the 24th minute on a goal by Candace Campbell before Cox’s scoring penalty kick. Rider (30-0-1) got second-half goals from Kaly Brasier, Amanda Hulett and Kelsey Hill to erase a 1-0 deficit. Amy Davis had put Dripping Springs (21-3-2) ahead with a first-half goal. Angela Davis made it 3-2 late with a goal on a 30-yard kick into the wind.
