In fact, they believe it is more physical than football. "I mean somebody getting tackled or do you want a metal stick going to your neck,” said Cy-Fair goalie George Albritton.

"Football and basketball you have to be big…lacrosse, it accepts all sizes,” said Albritton. If you have never watched lacrosse before, you might be a bit confused watching this sport. The truth of the matter is if you want to be a successful player of this sport, you must possess an impressive skill set. "First off, the offense flows back and forth just like basketball,” said coach Chris Wilke. “It's a high-speed, high-intensity game and the violence aspect is just like hockey." And then of course, there is all the non-stop running up and down the field like in soccer. It is hard work, but the athletes who play it love it. "Man it's just fast, fun and you get to hit people,” exclaimed Ironmen attacker Jacob Sherrod. “Just active ...it's fun." For the record, the Ironmen won last year's state Division 2 championship and finished as the runner up this year with an 18-1 record. |
