"His work ethic is an inspiration for the team," says his coach Keith Knowles. Video 11 News video October 30, 2008 But 18 months ago, Omar had lost 35 pounds and wore a stocking cap after losing his hair from chemotherapy treatments. Amin had been diagnosed with leukemia. "It was just like a nightmare to me when it was happening." After undergoing ten months of intense chemotherapy, Omar was physically and mentally spent. But then came the break through. His doctor finally gave him the good news. "From the moment he got the green light, it was a complete one-eighty," says his brother Zade. Now Omar is back to full speed again, and recently he proved it to everyone. He started on defense, but when the starting running back was injured Omar was called upon. He responded by scoring 4 touchdowns: "I was just trying to help my team win." His mother Abla Amin could hardly believe what she was seeing. "it was very emotional. I could everybody cheering for him. Everybody was so happy." To many football is just a game ....but to Omar Amin, it's more. "It got me to where I am today," says Omar. "Just to have a goal." So much more, or as his mother puts it. "It literally saved his life."
