TOP STORIESPrep teams get big time radio broadcastsAs Southern Idaho grows, more and more local schools are getting the star treatment. New stadiums, professional uniforms and big time artificial turf. Several schools also broadcast their games on the radio. Eagle High School games will appear this fall on KTMB-FM 99.1 "The Man." 99.1 broadcasts a huge signal across the state, giving wide exposure to the Eagle High program. The Fruitland Grizzlies also will hear their games called on the radio - on KSRV-AM "1380 The Bull," which covers much of western Idaho and eastern Oregon. Hank FM/KMHI-AM in Mountain Home will broadcast coverage of the Mountain Home Tigers matchups. Dave Tester, owner of KSRV, KMHI and KTMB says the games are good radio, and good for the community. "It's the one night a week that a town or a community comes together to be one and forget about all the problems of the week to focus on the kids," Tester said. "It might be the quarterback, the first trumpet in the pep band or the mascot, or just the lights reflecting on the field that draws us to the game, no matter the reason, we all get fired up for High School Friday night." KGEM 1140 AM will carry the action for all Bishop Kelly games in the fall. Magic Valley teams are also on the bandwagon. The Minico Spartans air on KFTA 970 AM, while KBAR 1230 AM has all the Burley Bobcats games. |
