Matt Bauscher, once of Vallivue, set a career high as a Boise State Bronco Thursday night in Logan, Utah. The Caldwell native tallied 24 points in an 82-78 Boise State loss.
Bauscher got the night off to a great start hitting his first three 3-pointers of the game. Bauscher played 38 minutes connecting on 8-of-15 shots from the field including 6-of-11 from beyond the arc.
The 24 points eclipses his previous career high of 22 set at San Jose State on February 1, 2006.
The Senior leader, who has struggled from the free throw line this year, acquitted himself nicely at the charity stripe vs Utah State with two clutch free throws in the waning seconds that kept the Broncos within striking distance.
The WAC All-Academic first teamer had a stellar career at Vallivue, graduating in 2003 after leading the Falcons to a 22-3 record as a senior, averaging 17.3 points to earn SIC Player of the year honors. He was an all-league selection as a junior and a senior and a two-time all-state pick.
Bauscher's sophomore season in brown and gold produced a state championship for Vallivue. He also played tennis in high school where he won the singles district and state championship as a senior for Vallivue.
