GAME OF THE WEEKMead gets another shot at Ferris12:11 AM PST on Tuesday, November 6, 2007We hate to see two teams from the same league meet in the first round of the state playoffs. But we'll still give the Ferris-Mead game on Friday night our nod as HSgametime game of the week.
KREM 2 sports The GSL turned around a recent trend on the football field last weekend. Ferris, L-C and Mead all won their playoff openers against the CBL, which put an end to the domination by the CBL in the last several years. Undefeated Ferris had to rally for a last second touchdown to sneak past CBL #3 Moses Lake, while Mead put away CBL #1 Wenatchee. The 8 and 2 Panthers have won four in a row. They haven't lost a game since October 5th. That loss-a 28-17 setback to the Saxons. Mead actually led that game 10-7 late in the third quarter, but the Saxons took a 14-10 lead on a Jeff Minnerly to Jared Karstetter touchdown pass. Early in the fourth, the Saxons blocked a punt and returned it for a score to go up 21-10 and take the wind out of the Panthers' upset bid. Mead has rebounded nicely from that loss, while the Saxons just keep winning. Look for a good one on Friday night. |
