2B BOYS SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) -- Luke Lindquist, Wyant Gardner, and Brandon Hoff each scored eight points, and Toutle Lake beat Riverside Christian 39-31 on Friday in the Class 2B boys basketball semifinals.
Jeston Harris added four points as Toutle Lake improved to 23-0. Toutle Lake will play defending champ Northwest Christian of Colbert in Saturday's final. Chris Pynch scored 11 points for Riverside Christian, which dropped to 22-1. The Crusaders will play Liberty Bell for third place. Riverside Christian led 23-19 at halftime, but went cold in the second half. The Crusaders shot just 12 percent and scored only eight points. The teams exchanged the lead six times and were tied five times in the game. 2B GIRLS SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) -- Nicole Hamre, Lacey Morris, and Kristen Lantau all scored seven points each, and Napavine beat Mossyrock 47-20 on Friday in the Class 2B girls basketball semifinals. Courtney May added six points, and all but one player scored for the Lady Tigers, which improved to 22-1 and advanced to their first title game. They will face La Salle in Saturday's finals. Julianne McCurry scored 6 points for Mossyrock (17-6). Mossyrock will play White Pass for third place. 4A BOYS TACOMA, Wash. (AP) -- Jarred Karstetter scored 24 points and was one of four Ferris players in double figures as the Saxons ran their winning streak to 57 games with a 75-60 victory over Bellarmine Prep in the semifinals of the Class 4A basketball tournament on Friday night. Ferris (28-0) will go for its second straight title and the third in school history when it takes on Federal Way on Saturday. The Eagles, one of the surprises of the tournament, got into the final with a 69-60 overtime victory against Decatur in Friday s other semifinal. Bellarmine Prep (24-4) will play for third place on Saturday against Decatur. Shawn Stockton added 17 points for Ferris. DeAngelo Castro and Jeff Minnerly added 16 apiece. Castro made it a double-double with 11 rebounds. Abdul Gaddy led Bellarmine with 29 points. Avery Bradley had 17 for the Lions. Ferris was up 34-29 at halftime and scored the first nine points of the second half to make it 43-29. The closest Bellarmine Prep got after that was 11 points on two occasions midway through the fourth quarter. With 57 straight, the Saxons have tied Reardan for the second-longest winning streak in state history. Reardan put together its run from 1965-67. 4A GIRLS TACOMA, Wash. (AP) -- Carly Noyes scored 25 points, including the tie-breaking free throws with 2:15 left, and Moses Lake hung on to beat Pasco 50-45 in the Class 4A girls basketball semifinals on Friday night. The Chiefs (24-5) will take on two-time defending champion Lewis & Clark of Spokane for the title on Saturday. The Tigers beat Prairie in Friday's other semifinal, 52-45. It will be the first title game appearance for Moses Lake. Pasco (22-7), seeking to return to the final for the first time since 1978, will play Prairie for third place. Ann Noyes added 16 points for Moses Lake, including four free throws in the last two minutes to help Moses Lake fend off the Bulldogs. Kelly Sutherland pulled down 10 rebounds for Moses Lake. Danielle Walter scored 23 points for Pasco, and Hayley Hodgins added 12. The largest lead for either team was seven. Moses Lake built a 37-30 advantage early in the fourth quarter before the Bulldogs went on a 9-2 run to climb into a 39-39 tie with 2:36 remaining. Moses Lake swept a pair of regular-season games from Pasco, 51-38 and 43-24. |
