Temperatures in the 50's and 40's may be the big deciding factor in some games thisweek as teams get used to the chill of playing in the cold.

Hits feel a bit bigger, the ground gets a bit harder, even the ball feels more solid when the cold comes in. All of these things take a toll on the field.

Fans aren't immune to the chill either, often stuck on a hard wood (or steel!) bench trying to keep warm.

But cold temps are part of the charm that comes with fall sports - warm drinks, hats and gloves, and those maniacs wearing no shirts at all to show their school pride!
