TOP STORIESTeams trying to repeat find mixed results12:32 AM PST on Friday, February 29, 2008There has been some amazing success for local schools in the state basketball tournaments. The Colfax Girls have an almost laughable run of four straight 1-A championships.
FSN DeAngelo Casto poses with the 4A championship trophy after scoring 16 points to lead Ferris to an undefeated season. The L-C girls are going for a three-peat in Tacoma. For the boys, Ferris is trying to complete an amazing feat this week. Back to back undefeated seasons. Northwest Christian is going for three in a row at Veterans Memorial Arena. So far, the GSL squads are still in contention, with both L-C and Ferris advancing to the semifinals in Tacoma. Northwest Christian is also a semifinalist. But Colfax's bid for a 5th consecutive title came to an end in Yakima at the hands of top ranked Lynded Christian on Thursday night. What a run, and the Bulldogs can still pick up a trophy. Brewster's boys bid to repeat also fell short in the SunDome. Even though they aren't from the east side of the state, the Mossyrock girls are trying to make it back to back in Spokane. No matter what happens the rest of the week, fans of basketball on this side of the state need to enjoy these accomplishments. They don't happen very often. |
