TOP STORIESThree area golfers win state championships07:00 PM PDT on Thursday, August 27, 2009SPOKANE -- The best high school golfers in Washington wrapped up state tournaments on Thursday, and three area golfers walked away as champions.
WIAA.com Lewis & Clark's Chessey Thomas won the 4A girl's title by shooting a second round 68. She finished the two day tournament with a 139, finishing one stroke ahead of the closest competitor. The 1A girl's tournament wasn't nearly as close. Chelan's Kelli Bowers dominated the field by shooting a two day total of 146. The second place finisher shot 173, 27 strokes behind Bowers. The lone boy's champion came in the 1B/2B state tournament. Northwest Christian's Jared Desoteaux shot back-to-back 68's to win the crown. He finished seven strokes ahead of the runner-up. |
