Moore's three singles keyed the West as it rallied from a two-run deficit to win its fourth consecutive All-Star Game. For his efforts, Moore was named the game's MVP. "It was a great day ... seeing a couple of my friends drafted. Just a good day," said Moore, whose Poly teammate, Jake Marisnick, was drafted with the 104th pick by the Toronto Blue Jays. "I'm happy for Jake. We'll see what happens tomorrow. Hopefully, I'll be right there with him," Moore said. Moore, who still intends to enroll at San Diego State, played all nine innings at shortstop. "(Blair) is awesome. He played very well," said Norco's Gary Parcell, coach of the West. Down 3-1, Riverside North senior Aaron LaFountaine, of the West, singled home two runs to tie the game in the sixth inning and then threw out a runner at third base in the seventh on the same night as his high school graduation. The East threatened in the eighth, putting runners on first and third, but failed to score when Jake Rodgers (Temecula Chaparral) was thrown out trying to score. Michael Denucci (Riverside King) scored the go-ahead run on a passed ball in the ninth, and Moore added an insurance run.
