In the pregame, Centennial cheerleaders held up a sign reading "13 More," as the team continues to march toward an undefeated season. Centennial senior running back Ryan Bass put Centennial ahead for good, 7-3, with 4:21 left in the first quarter, scoring on a 4-yard touchdown run. "It was a tough game at first. Their quarterback was real mobile," Bass said after rushing for four touchdowns (17 carries, 165 yards). "We were just the better team tonight. We came in to handle our business and we did. We just want to keep working hard toward the championship. That's our main goal." Scripps Ranch (1-2) made the game more interesting when sophomore running back Brennan Clay scored on a 6-yard TD run with 1:08 left in the half to make it 21-10. But just as the Falcons faithful started to get hopeful, Centennial drove for a touchdown and a 27-10 lead just 7.7 seconds before the break. "That was a good two-minute drill for us," Centennial coach Matt Logan said. "That was a real good chance for us to practice and execute, and we got it done." The Huskies really got it done in the second half, outscoring Scripps Ranch 28-6 with Bass running for touchdowns of 42 and 4 yards, Denzel Hawkins scoring on a 29-yard run and Arthur Burns cashing in a 72-yard run. Senior quarterback Matt Scott finished 15 of 23 passing for 230 yards, including a 37-yard scoring strike to junior wide receiver Ricky Marvray and a 3-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. |
