Bruins, a junior pitcher, posted a 21-4 record with a 1.13 earned run average and 227 strikeouts in 186 innings. Leading off for the Terriers, Bruins batted .412 and scored 25 runs. Her all-around play helped Redlands go undefeated in the Citrus Belt League, the program's first league title in 16 years. For these reasons, Bruins has been chosen The Press-Enterprise's San Bernardino area softball player of the year. Jerry Tivey, who led San Bernardino Cajon to a San Andreas League championship and to the Division 3 semifinals using speed and a small-ball style, was selected the San Bernardino area coach of the year. |
