FAN OF THE WEEKWhere have all the taco crowns gone?03:19 PM EDT on Wednesday, May 21, 2008Louisville, Ky. - Where have all the taco crowns gone? On summer vacation that’s where, but not before one last glorious send off celebrated at the St. X vs. Manual baseball game. The day was cool and cloudy but it didn’t put a damper on the spirits of the fans.
I was absolutely blown away by the awesomeness of the girls I found rooting on the St. X Tigers. They were already a party train in motion and I simply stepped on to bask in their fun. Hannah Lobdell and her group of friends are definitely in the running for the best group of fans I have ever met at any game…anywhere! There was laughter and high kicks all around and I couldn’t help but get caught up in it all. There is nothing cooler than meeting people who are so willing to just act goofy and have a great time! Now over on the Manual side, they were a bit more reluctant to give it up the enthusiasm but I must admit, I do love sparring playfully with the boys, so of course I had a blast! Jarrett “The Beast” Harness proved he has the right stuff to be the Fan of the Week. Thanks for the “cheers” guys, it made for a really funny segment and I hope to see you all in the future. With sadness and apprehension I announce that this was the last Fan of the Week segment until football season in the fall. But do not fret, the Taco Bell taco crowns are going to take it easy, lay around on the beach and rejuvenate and when they return they will be more fired up and ready than ever before! I want to thank every single fan that I have met over the last 7 months, all of the photographers who have braved the stands with me and helped me find my way when I was lost (it happens a lot). I would also like to thank Kyle Draper and Erik Waxler for being supportive of the Fan of the Week segment. A great big thanks goes out to Kimberly Williams, Chuck Wolfertz, Bruce Briney and the entire sales department of WHAS11 for giving me the opportunity to be a part of this amazing project. Most of all I would like to thank everyone at Taco Bell. You have really given something special to so many fans; kids and adults alike. When people see the foam taco crowns their eyes light up and excitement fills the air. It has been an amazing privilege and a thrill to surprise people by handing them iPods, it is truly one of the most fun things I’ve ever done. So thank you, thank you, thank you! See you in the fall!!! |
