TOP STORIESLacrosse State Champions crowned03:42 PM EDT on Friday, May 16, 2008After finishing runner-up the last two seasons the Kentucky Country Day girls lacrosse team can now call themselves state champions. They edged Manual 8-7 Thursday night, in front of a soggy crowd at the UofL Lacrosse Stadium. Senior Maggie Flowers leads all scorers with four goals to earn MVP honors. The Crimsons kept it close behind two goals each from Kara Evans, Kaitlin Shumate, and Kasey Uhlenhuth, but the Bearcats were too much to handle as five players (Bariteau, Esterhay, Grant, Robinson) get on the board. These two teams were destined to meet after going through the season without a loss. The only blemish on their records came on May 7th when the two teams battled to a 10-10 tie. The Bearcats end the year 11-0-1, while the Crimsons finish 10-1-1.
