TOP STORIESPRP headed back to state tournament08:04 PM EDT on Friday, June 6, 2008(WHAS11) – PRP has lost in the state semifinals the past 2 seasons, but they will give it a 3rd go round next week after defeating Anderson County 15-0 in Game 2 of their semistate series. The Panthers got home runs from both Cheyenne Von Kanel and Zach Cox and limited Anderson County to just one hit, after no-hiiting ACHS on Wednesday. This time is was junior Trey Harper was took the mound for PRP. Next up for the Panthers is Christian County on Thursday at 6:30PM at Lexington's Applebee's Park.
In Game 1, Pleasure Ridge Park senior Zach Cox not only threw a no-hitter in game 1 of the Semi-state 4 series against Anderson County, he gave himself all the run support he needed with a home run. But, his PRP teammates also contributed in a 5-0 win that puts the Panthers in position for a 3 rd straight berth in the state tournament. Cox, who has committed to play at Arkansas, only hit one batter in a dominating performance. The Panthers scored runs in the 3rd , 4th, and 6th innings, giving Cox more than enough. Tennessee signee Zach Osborne also drove in a run for the top ranked team in the state. PRP has a chance to clinch the semi-state series with a win in either Game 2 Thursday or Game 3 on Friday. |
