TOP STORIESCox's Monroe earns another honor10:23 AM CDT on Thursday, March 20, 2008Cox's Greg Monroe earned another honor Thursday, becoming the Morgan Wootten Award winner, following in the footsteps of Greg Oden, Dwight Howard, LeBron James, Jason Williams and Shane Battier.

Monroe led Cox to the school's first-ever Class 4A state championship this past season and was named Louisiana's Mr. Basketball. He scored 27 of Cox's 75 points in the championship game.
Rated as the No. 1 high school player in 2008 by Rivals.com and Scout.com, Monroe isn't just an ace on the court. He spends time diong community service and participats in the school's Black History Club.
"It's an honor to be named the McDonald's All-American Game Player of the Year," Monroe said in a statement. "It's always been one of my goals to make it to the McDonald's All-American team, so I'm extremely excited and am looking forward to game week."
Monroe will head to Georgetown in the fall for his freshman season. |
