TOP STORIESBeaverton tops Canby, 21-612:17 PM PDT on Wednesday, September 26, 2007Beaverton avenged last year's playoff loss with a 21-6 win over visiting Canby on Friday night in Beaverton. Beavers QB Michael DeHaan delivered the only TD of the first half with a short pass to James Testa who took it 66 yards for the score. In the second half, DeHaan lobbed a perfect touch pass to Joel Gross to extend the Beavers' advantage to 14-0. The Cougars fought back when Jake Fowler hit TJ Gorman with a 30-yard TD pass to cut the lead to 14-6. But the Beavers' psasing game was too good, as DeHaan hit Testa for another TD and the 21-6 win. The upset over 5th ranked Canby will likely vault the Beavers into the top 10 in the state rankings. The Cougars' schedule doesn't get any easier. After impressive wins over Sprague, Clackamas, and Central Catholic, the Cougs will have to try to bounce back against Grant and Tigard. With a big home win, the Beavers improved to 2-1, their only loss a narrow seven-point defeat againwst powerful Grant High School. |
