TOP STORIESJohnson leads Sheldon to 6A title in 28-14 win over Tualatin11:01 PM PST on Monday, December 10, 2007CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) -- Jordan Johnson passed for 127 yards and ran for 61 more to lead Sheldon to the OSAA 6A state football title with a 28-14 win over Tualatin at Reser Stadium.
Levi Levasa threw for 189 yards and two touchdowns for the Timberwolves who were the Pacific Conference co-champions but were unranked entering the playoffs. Dennis Ranck ran for 97 yards for Tualatin, Danny Johnson had three catches for 77 yards and Andrew Patton had three for 65. Third-ranked Sheldon did much of its damage early, building a 14-0 first-half lead on Zach Todd's four-yard touchdown run and Jordan Johnson's nifty 31-yard TD pass to Tyler Martell. Martell had four catches for 62 yards and Curtis White had three catches for 37 yards. Todd ran for 34 yards and had three catches for 28 yards. Jordan Johnson led Sheldon's balanced attack with a steady hand, completing 10 of 14 passes and carrying the ball 12 times. He had 64 yards rushing in the first quarter, including a game-best 35-yard scamper. |
