It was the first day that high school seniors can commit on paper for a college career in athletics. For many Oregon student-athletes, it was a day to look back with pride on the past, and look forward to the future. After years of work and commitment - big runs, passes and blocks –many students announced their next big thing: college. Southridge tight end Mitch Mathews is on cloud nine, still celebrating a state championship. Now, he’s headed to BYU in Provo, Utah. At Lake Oswego, both quarterback Jack Lomax and teammate Micah Hatfield are headed to Oregon State to play for the Beavers. Jesuit has a pair of stars headed back east, but to separate schools. Quarterback Scott Williams is headed to Yale and running back Anthony Blake is running all the way to Holy Cross in Massachusetts.... In Beaverton, offensive lineman Killian Fitzpatrick is headed to big sky country to play for Montana State. |
