TOP STORIESLakeridge football supporters take on neighbors12:56 PM PDT on Tuesday, October 16, 2007Parents at Lakeridge High School are fighting for a field for their football team. For years the team has had to play "home" games at Lake Oswego High.
But now some neighbors are standing in the way. They say the school sits in the middle of a neighborhood and there's no buffer between the football field and homes, and complain that home games here would clog traffic and slash their property values. The homes are less than 50-yards from the sidelines. So close that the city bans the school from hosting home games.
hsgametime.com At a meeting at the high school Monday, neighbors said they're fighting to keep it that way.
School administrators say they've already worked with the neighborhood to curb problems, and have posted “no parking” signs all around the school.
Next week the Lake Oswego school board will consider the proposal to allow home games to be played here.
If approved, a plan will go to the city council, which has the final say. |
