11/02/2009La Salle at Barrington football The long-awaited meeting between the Division I powers finally will happen Friday night at 7 o’clock at Barrington. The division-leading Rams will come into the game with a 5-0 Division I record while Barrington, at 5-1, is tied for second place.
10/26/2009Field hockey finals The Interscholastic League state field hockey champions will be crowed Sunday at Cranston Stadium with the Division I title game scheduled for 1 p.m. followed by the Division II game at 3 p.m. Semifinal action in both tournaments will be held earlier this week at Cranston Stadium with Division I games on Wednesday at 5 and 7 p.m. and Division II games on Thursday at the same times.

State baseball championships The Division I and II state baseball tournaments move to McCoy Stadium on Wednesday for the continuation of the double-elimination Division I state title series and the start of the best-of-three Division II title series. Mount St. Charles and Prout begin their Division II series Wednesday at 3 p.m., and South Kingstown and North Kingstown will play a Division I losers bracket game at 6 p.m. The winner of that game will play undefeated Hendricken on Thursday at McCoy at 6 p.m.

Top track performers The state's top track performers will be in action Saturday at Brown Stadium in the annual Interscholastic League boys and girls state outdoor track championships. The competition will begin at noon with the weight events. The running events are scheduled to get under way at 1 p.m.
05/26/2009Eight state championships Eight state team championships will be decided on the Rhode Island College campus this weekend. On Saturday the Divison I, II and III girls state lacrosse title games will be played at 1, 3 and 5 p.m. respectively and the Division II and I boys volleyball title games will be played at 1 and 3 p.m. respectively. The boys Division I, II and III lacrosse title games are scheduled for 1, 3 and 5 respectively on Sunday.

Cranston West, which starts this week with an undefeated record, posted an 8-5 victory in the first meeting, last month. That was Hendericken's only loss coming into this week's action.

Division III boys hockey championship Prout and Mt. Hope will meet in the second game of their best-of-three state title series Tuesday night at 7:30 at Providence College's Schneider Arena. Prout holds a 1-0 series lead. If Mt. Hope evens the series, the third game would be played Wednesday night at Schneider.
