Kurokawa and Trobb gave South Kingstown the deciding point in the 4-3 victory over Barrington that ended the Eagles' 30-match regular season victory string as the Rebels duo posted a three-set victory at second doubles.

04/15/2008 Taylor Bastien, North Kingstown Bastien scored three goals as the junior midfielder led the Skippers to a 12-5 victory over Barrington on Monday ending Barrington's 39-game Interscholastic League undefeated string.

04/07/2008 Ryan Westmoreland, Portsmouth The 2007 Rhode Island Gatorade Player of the Year picked right up where he left off last year as he struck out 20 and allowed one hit in a 9-0 victory over Barrington last week. Westmoreland also contributed to the Patriots' run production with three hits, including a solo homer, four RBI and three runs scored.

03/31/2008 John Guay, Mount St. Charles The Mounties' senior forward closed out his high school career with an MVP performance in last week's Division I state title series, leading Mount St. Charles to a sweep of the series and its first state title in five years.

03/17/2008 Nicholas Candelmo, Moses Brown The Quakers senior delivered one of the most spectacular goaltending performances ever seen in an Interscholastic League playoff game as he stopped 68 Mount St. Charles shots before the undefeated Mounties finally posted a 5-4 overtime victory Friday night in the opening game of a best of three Division I semifinal series.

03/10/2008 Monica Bharoocha, La Salle The senior guard captured MVP honors in the girls Division I game of the Credit Union Basketball Championships as her 17 points and 6 rebounds led the Lady Rams to a 59-54 victory over previously undefeated Bay View in the tournament's title game.

03/03/2008 Jake Rinn, Toll Gate The senior goaltender stopped 35 shots Friday night leading the Titans to a 2-2 tie with undefeated Mount St. Charles on the final weekend of the Interscholastic League Division I regular season. It was the second time this season that Rinn helped Toll Gate hold Mount St. Charles to a tie.

02/25/2008 Shawn Giblin, Cranston West The Falcons junior won his third consecutive state indivdiual title and led Cranston West to its third consecutive state team title as he captured the 125-pound class at the Interscholsatic League's State Wrestling Championships on Sunday.

02/18/2008 Didi Jusme, Classical The Classical senior was the individual star of the state girls track meet on Sunday as she won both the 55-meter run and the 55-meter hurdles, finished second in the 300-meter run and was a member of the Purple's championship 4 x 200 meter relay team.

02/11/2008 BriAnna Narodowy, Mount St. Charles The Mounties freshman forward scored the game-winning goal as Mount St. Charles handed Bay View its first loss of the season with a 2-1 victory over the Bengals in an Interscholastic League Division I girls game Saturday night.

02/04/2008 Jessica Battista, Bay View The senior guard scored 12 of her 15 points in the early minutes of the game leading the Bengals to a lead they never relinquished en route to a 56-45 victory over South Kingstown in a showdown between undefeated Division I teams last week.

Craig Koprusak, Burrillville
Koprusak scored all three Burrillville goals as the Division IA Broncos posted a 3-1 victory over Division I Toll Gate last week-end. It was Burrillville's second victory of the season over a Division I team.

01/20/2008 Antjuan Jones, Woonsocket The junior guard tallied 24 points leading Woonsocket to a 61-56 victory over Hendricken in a showdown between the two undefeated Division I powers last Friday night.

01/14/2008 Jerell Gomes, Feinstein The senior All-Stater scored 25 points, including seven over the final two minutes, as he led Feinstein to a 72-69 victory over West Warwick in a showdown between two undefeated Division II powers last Thursday night.

01/08/2008 Brittany Wilson, Bay View The senior All-Stater scored 12 points, pulled down 14 rebounds, picked-off eight steals and blocked two shots as she led Bay View to a 50-42 victory over La Salle on Saturday in the only regular season meeting between the two teams who played in last year's Division I girls state title game.

01/02/2008 Victoria Flowers, Classical Flowers captured two gold medals – one with a record-setting throw - at the 26th annual Brown Track & Field Invitational last Friday. The Classical senior, who is the defending national champion in the 20-pound weight throw, took first in that event with a national-record toss of 61-feet, 3/4-inches that surpasses the previous mark of 60-10.5 set in 1997 by Idaho ’s Maureen Griffin. Flowers also won the shot put at the Brown meet with a toss of 43-6.25.

12/26/2007 Jerell Gomes, Feinstein Last week was a busy one for Jerell Gomes, as the 6-foot-4 guard helped the undefeated Feinstein boys basketball team post two Division II victories. On Tuesday, the senior recorded his 1,000th career point in a victory over Westerly, recording 20 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists in the 61-51 decision. Three nights later, Gomes then scored 22 points, including four 3-pointers, to go along with his 10 boards, 8 assists and 2 steals in the Falcons’ 71-58 win over Barrington.

12/16/2007 Bianca Bogda, Bay View The senior star assisted on four of the five Bay View goals as the Bengals posted a 5-0 victory over Burrillville in the showdown between the only undefeated Division I girls hockey teams on Saturday night.

12/10/2007 Noel Acciari, Hendricken The Hendricken sophomore didn't waste any time making his presence know in the Interscholastic League hockey ranks as he scored a total of six goals and assisted on six other tallies in the Hawks three victories last week.

12/03/2007 Emanuel Tutu, Classical The Purple's senior running back delivered one of the best rushing performances ever seen in a Rhode Island Super Bowl as he ran for 348 yards in Classical's 34-22 victory over Exeter-West Greenwich in the Citizens Bank Division IV Super Bowl.

11/26/2007 Greg Palmer, East Greenwich His three touchdowns led East Greenwich to the 35-0 victory victory over Narragansett on Thanksgiving Eve that gave the Avengers a berth in the Division III playoffs.

11/19/2007 Janet Pressler, La Salle The junior outside hitter was named the Most Valuable Player of the Interscholastic League Girls Division I Volleyball tournament after helping the Rams capture their first Division I state title with a 3-2 victory over East Providence in the tite match on Saturday.

11/13/2007 Hanna MacDougall, Mt. Hope The Mt. Hope senior goaltender turned aside 20 shots as she led the Huskies to a 2-1 victory over La Salle in the title game of the Interscholastic League MetLife Division I girls state tournament last Friday night. The performance earned MacDougall tournament MVP honors.

11/05/2007 Jeanne Mack, La Salle The Rams senior set a course record on the 5,000 meter layout at Ponaganset High on Sunday as she captured the individual state title and led La Salle to its first girls state cross country team championship with a winning time of 18:14.56.

10/29/2007 Josh Barrette, Warwick Vets Barrette's 29-yard field goal with four seconds to play gave Warwick a 21-18 victory over Mt. Hope Friday night and kept the Hurricanes undefeated in Division II competiton. The game-winner kick was Barrette's second field goal in the fourth quarter.

10/22/2007 Pam Emery, North Providence The Cougars senior became only the fourth player in the history of the R.I. Interscholastic League girls tennis tournament to win three state singles titles as she captured her third title in four years with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Mount St. Charles Melissa Ferry in the title match on Sunday.

10/14/2007 Melissa Ferry, Mount St. Charles The Mounties senior, who plays at the No. 2 spot in the Mount's regular season singles lineup, earned a berth in Sunday's title match of the state singles tourney with upset victories over the two of the top three Division I seeded players in quarterfinal and semifinal matches last weekend.

10/09/2007 Stanley Dunbar, St. Raphael The senior quarterback led the Saints to a 22-19 victory over La Salle, in a battle of undefeated Division I teams on Saturday, as he scored two touchdowns and threw a TD pass for the game-winning touchdown.

Jacob LaBelle, Chariho
LaBelle only scored one goal last week, but it was one of the biggest tallies of the boys soccer season so far. The first half tally by the Chargers junior proved to be the game's only goal as Chariho upset nationally ranked La Salle, 1-0, in a Division I match last Thursday at La Salle.

09/24/2007 Geoff Gillson, Cranston East The senior running back scored four touchdowns and compiled a total of 250 all-purpose yards leading the undefeated Thunderbolt to a 47-27 victory over Cumberland in a Division II game Friday night.

09/17/2007 Brandford Sowah, Hendricken football The 5-8, 165-pound senior running back scored three touchdowns, rushed for over 100 yards and intercepted a pass as he led Hendricken to a 41-6 victory over defending state champion East Providence in the opening Division I game of the season for both teams last Friday night.

09/10/2007 Amanda Whaley The North Kingstown senior scored one goal and assisted on the other two tallies as North Kingstown ended Barrington's two-year undefeated Field Hockey string with a 3-1 victory over the Eagles last week. Whaley scored the game's first goal then assisted on two second-half tallies as the Skippers broke away from a 1-1 halftime deadlock.
