Baseball All-StatesChris Costantino11:00 AM EDT on Friday, July 3, 2009 The top player in the state this season, Costantino earned his second consecutive first-team All-State honor after a season in which his pitching and hitting led Hendricken to its second straight Division I state title and fifth state crown in the past seven years. He led the Hawks in almost every offensive category, including a .520 batting average, 29 RBIs, 19 extra-base hits, 30 runs scored and a .921 slugging percentage. He was named the MVP of the Division I state tournament after a tourney in which he was the winning pitcher in two games of the Division I Final Four and hit a home run in each of the first two games of the Final Four series. On the mound this season he posted a 10-0 record with a 1.64 E.R.A. He struck out 99 batters in 64 innings while only giving up 19 walks. He closed out his high school career with a three-hit shutout in the state title-deciding game on the same day he was drafted by the Red Sox in the 49th round of the Major League Amateur Draft.
