Baseball All-StatesJames McKinney11:00 AM EDT on Friday, July 3, 2009 South Kingstown’s starting catcher for four straight years, the Rebels star earned his third All-State honor and second consecutive first-team selection as he posted his third straight plus-.500 batting average. “He is the best offensive weapon I've ever had, and I’ve had a lot of good ones,” veteran South Kingstown coach Jim Sauro offered about the MIT-bound McKinney. He had 39 hits in 73 official trips to the plate this season for a .534 average, including 11 extra-base hits. The Rebels leadoff hitter, he scored 38 runs and drove home 28. He also was an outstanding baserunner with 29 stolen bases in 31 attempts this season.
