Baseball All-StatesJeff Roy11:00 AM EDT on Friday, July 3, 2009 The Hawks junior star proved he was one of the top all-around outfielders in the state as he hit .464 and used his speed and strong throwing arm to make a host of big defensive plays throughout the season. He tied Chris Costantino for the most hits on the Hendricken team this season with 32, and his .464 batting average (39 for 84) was second only to Costantino for the Hawks' top average. He was also third on the team in runs scored with 27. One of his top defensive plays of the season came in the title-deciding game of the state tournament, when he preserved Costantino’s shutout by throwing out a runner at the plate after he caught a fly ball to right field.
