Making her first appearance on the All-State team, Carmone kicked off her season with a win (20:07.6) in the Sullivan Race of the Injury Fund Carnival. The senior went on to lead the Townies to a 9-2 dual-meet record and third place in the Metropolitan Division behind Barrington and La Salle. Carmone placed fifth at the Class A championships with a time of 19:54.39, then a week later shaved off a whopping 48 seconds en route to a fifth-place finish at the state championship. She followed up that performance at the New England championship in Manchester, N.H., where she was the sixth-fastest Rhode Islander, placing 52nd overall in 19:47. Carmone also ran strong at the Manhattan Invitational, finishing 30th in the Varsity “C” race with a time of 16:19.
