Lacrosse All-StatesTaylor Bastien06:00 PM EDT on Monday, June 23, 2008 Bastien moved up from a defensive position to midfield/attack this season, and Skippers coach Keith Higgins says the junior "did not disappoint." One of the top scorers in Division I and North Kingstown's leading point-getter, Bastien tallied 39 goals and assisted on 11 others, helping her team finish in a tie for second with eventual state champion Moses Brown during the regular season, with a 10-3 record. She then helped her team advance to the Division I semifinals, scoring two goals and assisting on two others in the Skippers' quarterfinal win over La Salle. "[Taylor] is a very good playmaker and fantastic shooter," Higgins said. "She has literally won a few games for us this season by scoring and setting up goals in bunches. She has amazing cradling ability and has really caused opposing defenders and goal keepers to scratch their heads as she slides through them to unleash her accurate and powerful shot. She's also very fun to watch." |
